Issue 7 in September

So, since the last update I had to go to the hospital again, with some even more painful shit to go through. It's ridiculous trying to get this ready right now, so I'll take a couple weeks off in August and get it ready then. It will be more or less a 'double-sized' issue with a ton more awesomeness to make it worth your while.

So yeah, see ya in September.

Excuses, excuses...

So here is a selection of reasons issue 7 won't be out until later in the summer

- I work now, so basically I'm not hanging around all day being angry at how shit everyone's musical preferences are these days. I tend to be more pissed off about people who get in my way in the morning.
- I had to have an operation just before Easter that put me out of commission for a month
- My pirated copy of Photoshop started acting all funny so I got rid of it and now I'm trying to get my head around Gimp. Why the fuck isn't there a 'theme' that makes it look more like Photoshop?
- I have under a week now to complete the rewrite of my thesis' introduction, so I don't want to piss away the last 5-6 years of my life.
- My new desktop computer allows me to waste hours on Call of Duty. All of them.
- It's summer here. Seriously, when the weather is consistently this good, you kinda don't want to sit in front of a computer screen all day painstakingly making layouts on Gimp.

See you soon.

Issue #7: Right around the corner!

So yeah, my new beast of a computer is ready and is helping me pump out the new issue. Unfortunately it also means I've been playing "catch-up" with all these cool video games I couldn't previously play because now I've got a graphics card that isn't an Intel 945GM Express (ie a piece of digital shit). So far I've gone throughCall of Duty 2, 4, 5 and 7 and I'm waiting to get my hands on Modern Warfare 2. Great stuff. Then I have Mass Effect 1, 2 and Starcraft 2 to get through, as well as the second half of the Alien and Predator campaigns for the new Alien v Predator. Excellent times.

Anyway, the new issue is more or less done, I just need to fix up the fucking layouts for full-length reviews and a couple more bits. I'm returning to Cambridge this weekend for a week, to pack up my shit and party a bit before I return to Greece for good. So yeah, if you're around and want to share your love of 1980s-sounding hardcore, drugs and booze with me, get in touch. I will try to get the issue sorted tonight, so I can get a fuckload printed in Cambridge. Expect to see it around very soon.

See ya down the pub, yeah?

PS: Charlie Sheen STILL kicks ass. I used to be ridiculed for supporting his awesomeness, now everybody seems to be jumping on that bandwagon, like the whole Chuck Norris and Hoff thing. The "Morgan Freeman" dollar has gone down a bit, but you can also bet on Seagal making a serious comeback as the Athrax or Maiden of coke-fuelled hasbeens making a come-back.

Slight delays... Typically

Yo!

I've moved to Greece without any major fuck ups, however Crucial 'Zine #7 is delayed, as per usual. This time it's not because I'm lazy and haven't bothered, but because I've managed to fuck up my laptop with half a pint of water. The old beast works occasionally, but acts "drunk", so I've backed everything up until I get a new computer to finish everything up. I'll be setting up a really nice desktop that will allow me to finally play Call of Duty 2 (I have a bit of catching up to do) among things, and Duke Nukem Forever, most likely.

Issue #7 will feature:
- Some cool covers, courtesy of Sloosh, Pete (who did issue 4) and another couple surprises.
- Interviews with the Junk, Propagandhi (reprint from the vaults of sonicdice.com) and Panx Romana, if they get back to me in time
- Casey's sequel article on sneakers
- More guest ranting and quality reporting - by the kids, for the kids.
- A complete Arnie filmography
- A fuckton of reviews
- Maybe some more cool shit that I can't remember because I haven't been able to access all the files in a week

The idea was to get this issue ready for my final return to Cambridge in January, but thanks to Anglia Fucking Ruskin Fucking Univeristy, I now have a viva voce to deal with that I wasn't told about and on top of that they aren't telling me when they need me there. They tell me it will be within three months of them assigning examiners, which they don't know when will happen. So, as soon as I get my new computer sorted, I'll get the 'zine ready and start looking for cheap printers in Greece. Anybody in Athens with a hookup, get in touch and you'll be my best friend.

If you definitely want copies for your distro or whatever, let me know how many, because as this is basically a one-man operation, I can't afford printing shit-loads, nor can I afford mailing them out for free on the off-chance. So whilst the 'zine will still be free, I'd appreciate trading them with stuff I can review in upcoming issues, rather than charging for it.

The new shirts are virtually GONE. There's probably a dozen left in odd sizes, so let me know what size you want and when I get back to Cambridge, I'll tell you what sizes are left. Laters!

Some cool records from 2010

Top 10 lists tend be a bit bullshit, because chances are you probably discovered a record from years before or you can't come up with ten records, so you end up putting in a load of shit/predicatble ones, just to get the numbers right. In that spirit, here's ten records I listened to a fair bit this year. It doesn't mean they are great or came out in 2010.

- Floorpunch - New Jersey
- V.A. - Past Present Breaking Out The Classics
- Your Demise - The Kids We Used To Be
- REARRANGED - New Forms
- United Nations - Never Mind The Bombing, Here's Your Six Figures
- China shop bull - Rave To The Grave
- Never Again - Year One
- Rival Mob - Hardcore For Hardcore
- NASA Voyager Recordings
- Γέλως - Μεταξύ Ουρανού και Γής
